I met the Funerally.com guys at Disrupt today. They are a small team of just two guys in Cleveland, Ohio building an online consumer marketplace for funerals. They are out here presenting at the Startup Alley and looking for both investors and employees.
They started out using the domain “Funeral.ly” but were smart enough to get the .COM equivalent “Funerally.com”. From talking to them it sounds like they have a good understanding of the dynamic nature of startup domain names. We talked about their acquisition strategy and they have certainly been working intelligently to protect their brand as a startup, while keeping in mind their target market and massive growth potential.
